Project Summary
What we did
This was a project of rare scale and meaning. Our brief was to design not just a building, but an entire cultural destination, a place that would celebrate the history of the Egba people and stand as a permanent source of pride for the nation.
We delivered full Stage 1 Architectural Concept Design across the whole 6-hectare site. That meant a master layout for the entire precinct, architectural and interior design for the museum building, 3D renders, and animation walkthrough videos of both the exterior grounds and museum interior, all edited into a cohesive presentation.
The museum itself is a three-storey building with a triple-volume entrance that announces its purpose the moment you step inside. Its form was drawn from the shape of the egg, an ancient symbol of potential and life. That ovoid language carries through the plan and elevations in parametric curves, giving the architecture a boldness that feels both timeless and contemporary. Inside, mezzanine galleries wrap around a central atrium, housing art and sculpture galleries, a digital gallery, a cinema dedicated to Egba and Yoruba cultural heritage, and a gift shop. Interactive screens allow visitors to access information on prominent Egba figures by name, making the experience as personal as it is educational.
The soul of the wider precinct is the Lisabi monument, rising 183 metres and designed to be the tallest monument in the world. Accessible from inside the museum via elevator and staircase, it offers visitors a panoramic view of the entire city from its apex. The Hall of Fame extends through the surrounding parklands, with statues of the Alakes of Egbaland, celebrated Egba men and women, governors, presidents, and cultural icons positioned throughout. Cycle paths, walkways, a miniature golf course, and a designated burial site for distinguished Egba individuals complete a precinct designed to be visited, revisited, and remembered.
